Alyssa Milano has Italian-American father and mother(parents). Her mother, Lin is a fashion designer and Her father, Tom does editing of music for films.

Brooklyn, where Alyssa Milano grew up was a working class neighborhood. She lived in a house on New York's Staten Island., where a babysitter, who wanted to be a dancer, pulled Alyssa along with her, to an open audition.

The audition was for the First National Tour of Annie. Ironically, Alyssa bested all 1,500 wannabes who perform on stage and snagged her first role. At age seven, Alyssa joined the tour as July, one of the orphans.

After 1 year and 6 months of being on the road, Alyssa, who had begun to garner a reputation as an energetic and charismatic young actress, left Annie to be featured in off-Broadway productions and television commercials.

In 1983 at age 10, she landed her breakthrough role on the new sitcom "Who's The Boss?", (1984) as Tony Danza's sweet little daughter, Samantha Micelli, a kid whose native Brooklyn accent even rivaled her TV dad's.

Just so Alyssa could accept the role, her entire family uprooted and move some 3,000 miles to Hollywood. Her dogs' names are Lucy, Ripely, Stella, Hugo and she has four cats named Simon, Lucy, Daisy and Miles.
