Mandy & hubby get their bundle of joy

“ It’s a brand new feeling, very special. This sets the priority of my life for now. The baby is most important, everything else will come afterwards,” Mandira said.<p> The television star, credited with glamorising cricket show hosting in India, gave birth to a boy at Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital on Friday.The couple, who recently celebrated 11 years of marriage, have decided to name their son Vir.

“ We are extremely happy. Mandira and our child are both in excellent ‘ condition,” Raj said.</p><p> For Raj, the double delight also lay in the fact that the child was born close to Father’s Day which fell on June 19.</p><p> News of Mandira’s pregnancy first became public in January this year.</p><p> Her husband couldn’t resist tweeting about his Father’s Day fortune.


“ Had a superb Fathers day ( my 1st) thanks to my little Vir. Thank you @ mandybedi for the best gift in my life. I think I am in love again ? Ladies and gentlemen. At 11.01am IST weighing 6 pounds the czar of our lives Mr Vir Kaushal has arrived. :-) ( sic),” tweeted Raj.

Mandira was recently in news on taking up promotion of the cause of stem cell research. As brand ambassador, she will be involved in raising awareness and taking part in initiatives related to the issue.


The actress- TV anchor recently said she was impressed by the benefits of stem cell therapy and wanted to promote the cause. “ Parents take various steps to ensure a safe and secure future of their child. One small but very significant step towards securing the health of your child is by storing the stem cells of your new- born,” Mandira said in a press statement recently.

True to her mission, she has preserved the stem cells of her baby at the time of birth.


Mandira, who became popular in the nineties playing the title role of India’s first daily soap Shanti , became a household name when she took to anchoring pre and post- match cricket shows on television.


Her noodlestrap blouses heralded a whole new fashion statement on television, with many critics jocularly referring to the sartorial statement as ‘ blouseless straps’. Kaushal, who made a few of unsuccessful forays into Bollywood by way of Pyar Mein Kabhi Kabhi, Shaadi Ka Laddoo and Anthony Kaun Hai, is said to be working on a new project.
